The Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising in the College of Media at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty appointment in Creativity and Advertising. This is a 9-month teaching-focused appointment with the possibility of additional teaching in the summer. Non-tenure-track faculty in the department are typically long-term employees, appointed initially on renewable annual contracts with eligibility for multi-year appointments upon promotion. This is an open-rank search for an Instructor/Lecturer. Initial appointments will be made at a rank commensurate with qualifications and prior experience.
The position is expected to begin August 16, 2025.
This position will focus on teaching undergraduate courses in advertising creativity, creative concepting and content creation, advertising design, advertising campaigns, and portfolio courses. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a high level of relevant experience in creative concepting, content creation, and art direction and design across communication channels and platforms. Candidates must have experience using tools and software that are relevant to content creation, collaboration and production. Previous experience teaching undergraduate, or portfolio students will be considered a plus. Opportunities for teaching in the master’s degree programs also exist.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in advertising or related field or completion of advertising portfolio school. Professional experience in creative advertising. The appointment will be based upon the academic credentials and professional experience of the applicant. Candidates with bachelor's degrees will be appointed as Instructor. Candidates with master's degrees or above will be appointed as Lecturer. The rank is based on experience. All candidates will have potential to be an outstanding teacher.
Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience in advertising in a higher education setting or portfolio school. Significant professional experience as Creative Director or Art Director in the advertising field.
